Now that college football has returned, there are a lot of new Colorado fans all of a sudden… That can’t be everyone jumping on the Deion bandwagon, can it? Oh, it definitely can! But, while you’re here trying to find out more ways to make yourself seem like you’ve been a fan for years, take a look at what you’ve been missing out on in the Colorado beer industry.
Cerebral Brewing | Triple Mash Pappy Van Winkle Here Be Monsters

There are certain spirits in the world of barrel aged beer that elicit perked up ears, and then there are those brands that generate whiplash causing sore necks and desperate trips to the chiropractor. Pappy Van Winkle (PVW) falls squarely in the latter category, a mythical wheated bourbon whose popularity and even legend has skyrocketed in the past decade causing bottles to sell on secondary markets for 20-30x their retail prices of $120-$300. Even the used barrels from these 15-23 year aged whiskeys sell for exorbitant prices as breweries clamor to get their hands on them. Cerebral Brewing was lucky enough to land two Pappy Van Winkle 15 Year barrels, and they chose to rest a triple mash version of their Here Be Monsters Imperial Stout in those barrels. This particular single barrel expression aged for 39 months, an incredibly long time yielding an incredible creation.

We are officially less than a month away from the start of the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) 2023. Don your finest costume and pretzel necklace and join the fun at GABF September 21-23 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. Tickets are still available for each of the four sessions, but don’t wait or you’ll miss out on the premier beer festival of the year!

Within the craft beer industry, we see all sorts of collaboration beers, but it’s not every day that you see a beer supporting firefighters. Odyssey Beerwerks is partnering with the Arvada Professional Fire Fighters Foundation to raise money for injured firefighters and the families of fallen firefighters. This annual fundraiser has taken place since 2016 at the Odyssey Beerwerks Taproom and returns on Saturday, July 29 from 2:00-10:00 p.m. The fundraiser features the release of the Old Dodge Red Ale, a beer brewed and canned in collaboration with Arvada Fire Fighters. Make sure to swing by to show your support for some of the bravest men and women in the state!
Barrel Room Spotlight | Moksa Brewing

It’s been long overdue to have another brewery join us in the Spotlight. So without further ado, enter Moksa Brewing Company out of Rocklin, CA. Established in 2017 and opening their doors in 2018, Moksa is another very young brewery that has had a lot of success in a very short period of time. Seeking to showcase beer and brewing as its own unique art form, Moksa has never hesitated to push the boundaries. We had the privilege of chatting with Head Brewer Cory Meyer, focusing on the growth and successes of their barrel program, some of the ins-and-outs of their processes, and their hopes for the future.

It’s rare to find a brewery that can pump out so many different styles, and do it well. When you do though, it is one of the best feelings.
In the Twin Cities, that brewery is Barrel Theory Beer Company. Located in the heart of downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, it has spent the last six years brewing spectacular beers of all varieties, from crispy Pilsners to decadent Imperial Stouts, with a knack for making Hazy IPAs. It’s been doing it humbly, making the brewery somewhat of a hidden gem. Until now.

In honor of one year of calling the former Stapleton International Airport Control Tower home, aviation-themed FlyteCo Brewing is hosting an anniversary weekend complete with a free community drone show and fundraiser, August 19-21. The event takes place on Sat., August 19 – coinciding with National Aviation Day–featuring a fundraiser for I Hart Flying Foundation, which provides flight training scholarships to aspiring women pilots. Tickets can be found here for $100 and include dinner, drink tickets, door prizes and access to on-site games including golf simulators, axe throwing, bowling, mini golf and arcade games.

It’s been an ongoing narrative for the past few seasons, but 2023 is a true testament that Baseball is fun again. There are plenty of reasons why this season is so awesome – Shohei Ohtani doing things that have never been done, a healthy Ronald Acuna Jr. keeping the Braves on a path for October, Elly De La Cruz and Corbin Carroll scorching a new meaning for Rookie of the Year – all while payrolls bust the bank and foundation (looking at you, Mets). FlyteCo will be hosting a 4-day party March 2-5. With special tappings, karaoke, a DJ and even a hangover brunch, you won’t run out of things to do. Meanwhile, New Image will be releasing five new beers (including some incredible barrel-aged beers), as well as having live music in the afternoon on March 4.
