This brewing family traces it origins to Magstadt, Württemberg, where a famous strain of lager yeast made its way to the city of Philadelphia. With the heritage of the von C family, it is no surprise than that they continue to make some flavorful, true-to-style Lagers here in 2022 — one of them being their Vienna Style Lager.

November 12, 2018 | David NilsenRyan Blandford, head brewer at Cincinnati’s Taft’s Ale House, won his first gold medal at the World Beer Cup while working for crosstown brewery Fifty West in 2016. When he heard Fifty West’s 10 & 2 Barleywine announced, he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“I was jumping up and down and swearing,” laughed Blandford when we spoke on the phone last week. “As a young brewer you look up to these guys who are winning all these medals and when you’re fortunate enough to win one, well, you’re kind of freaking out.”
Anheuser-Busch InBev Acquiring Devils Backbone Brewing Company
April 14, 2016 | Scott JohnsonAnheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev), the world’s largest brewery conglomerate, has acquired the biggest craft brewery in Virginia, Devils Backbone. This will be the eighth brewery to join AB-Inbev’s The High End subsidiary that started in 2011 from the purchase of Goose Island Brewery in Chicago. Over the course of 18 months, AB-Inbev has gained six new breweries for The High End brand, the last one being Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton, Colorado. Read More
