Event Recap | 13th Rare & Vintage Beer Tasting
The 13th Annual Rare and Vintage Beer Tasting took place on Saturday January 25, 2025 in Durham, North Carolina. This festival is 100% not-for-profit benefitting a nonprofit organization each year.
Rare and Vintage is held at the historic Durham Bulls Athletic Park in the heart of downtown Durham, NC. The venue is perfect for a big group of attendees and was kept warm via large tents. The festival was well-run with ample water stations, restrooms, and space. Wooden Nickel Farms provided delicious snacks as well that we’d like to see more festivals mimic!
Another fantastic part of the festival is that they provide the beer list ahead of time. The beer nerds (hi, guilty!) can plan their attack and prioritize their pours ahead of time making for an even more enjoyable event.
On top of the festival itself, there were satellite events all weekend long to increase the fun. The preparty at Beer Study with a plethora of taps was a highlight. Additionally the Retro Rewind After-Party at Dssolvr was lot of fun, spilling over to Surf Club as well.
Beer For Good
The Rare & Vintage Beer Tasting benefits The Michael James Jackson Foundation for Brewing & Distilling (MJF). This is a fantastic organization founded by Garrett Oliver that bestows scholarship awards to Black, Indigenous and People of Color within the brewing/distilling industries. Rare and Vintage has raised $145,000 and counting for its charity partners over the years.
