Left Hand Brewing Launches Five-Year Whiskey Made From Sawtooth Ale’s Mash Bill

Left Hand Brewing is taking one of its longtime beers in a new direction with the launch of Sawtooth Whiskey. The five-year-aged spirit transforms the mash bill of the brewery’s iconic Sawtooth Amber Ale through distillation and oak aging. The release also marks the start of a new partnership with Dry Land Distillers, with more beer-inspired whiskeys already in development.

A press release from Left Hand Brewing revealed that the Sawtooth Whiskey presale is now available through Dry Land Distillers.

Left Hand first explored the connection between brewing and distilling with Sinister Whiskey in 2021 and Galactic Cowboy Whiskey in 2025. Sawtooth Whiskey continues that story, while beginning a new chapter through Left Hand’s partnership with Dry Land.

For more than three decades, Sawtooth Amber Ale has been a part of Left Hand’s lineup. Five years ago, its mash bill took a different path through distillation and aging in oak, transforming a longtime Left Hand beer into an entirely new expression.

“Sawtooth has been with us from the beginning, so getting to see it take on a completely new life as a whiskey is pretty special,” said Left Hand’s founder, Eric Wallace.

Sawtooth Whiskey is a single-barrel selection bottled at 110 proof, or 55% ABV. Approximately 150 hand-numbered bottles will be released, with pickup available during the whiskey’s release party on October 17th, 2026, at Dry Land Distillers.

“Left Hand paved the way for craft beverages in Longmont, and we’re excited to be a part of their journey in the world of spirits,” said Nels Wroe, founder of Dry Land Distillers.

Sawtooth Whiskey is just the beginning, with future whiskeys made from other Left Hand favorites already aging in barrels. The next legacy beer to take on new life as a whiskey is Fade to Black, planned for release before the end of 2026.
