*Updated with beer list* Event Preview | LowDown Barrel-Aged Beer Festival

Beer festivals can be amazing, but in many ways they can be overwhelming: from the ticket price to enormous crowds and even the long waits in line to catch a glimpse of the brewers of your favorite beers. Last year,  LowDown Brewery held their type of beer festival with no lines and no entry fee; just great barrel-aged beer.

On January 16, LowDown will host their second annual barrel-aged beer event that is bigger and better than last year. Starting at 2:00, they will tap 4 of their own barrel-aged beers along with 8 barrel-aged beers from 8 other awesome breweries. Attendees will be able to try 4 or 8 ounce pours of incredible creations from LowDown, Dry Dock, Great Divide, Lagunitas, Left Hand, Platt Park, Ratio, River North, and Rock Bottom’s downtown Denver location.

“I really just wanted to invite people I like and respect to showcase some of their beer,” explained Phil. “While there isn’t a competition, everyone is excited to bring their best stuff and show off a little.”

Because barrel-aging is better suited for beers with higher ABVs (at least 8-9%), Phil and co-founder Scott O’Hearn suggest attendees to either have a designated driver or utilize a car-request system. “These beers are delicious but can quickly sneak up on you. To avoid any issues, just take a taxi or Uber,” advised Scott.

The real winner of the day will be anyone attending, as they’ll be able to try beers from one of the best collections of barrel-aged ales you could find in one place. LowDown will open at 11:00 am, allowing customers to claim their stake on a table throughout the brewery.
