Copper & Cask Launches ‘X,’ a 10-Year Barrel-Proof Bourbon

Copper & Cask is adding its first permanent expression to the lineup with a decade-aged barrel-proof bourbon called “X.” The inaugural batch combines mature barrels sourced from MGP Indiana and aged across several locations before blending. The result is intended to bring the brand’s small-batch approach into a nationally available, year-round release.

According to a press release from Copper & Cask, “X” will be available beginning this month at select retailers nationwide and online, with a suggested retail price of $69.99. The 10-year age-stated bourbon is the brand’s first permanent release and is planned for ongoing small-batch drops throughout the year.

The inaugural batch of “X” is crafted from hand-selected barrels of 10- to 12-year Bourbon, distilled at MGP Indiana and aged in various locations, including Kentucky, Indiana, and Copper & Cask’s HQ in Rhode Island. The blend comprises 45 barrels of low-rye (21%) and high-rye (36%) Bourbon, showcasing the complexity of extended aging while letting each barrel contribute to the layered expression.

“X” is made under the direction of Barrel Master Stephen Corrigan. With nearly two decades of experience across whiskey distillation, aging, and blending, Corrigan has led Copper & Cask’s barrel program since 2022.

“Launching ‘X’ is an exciting new chapter for Copper & Cask,” said Corrigan. “We wanted our first ongoing release to make a statement. We did this by going deep into our inventory to find mature, distinctive barrels that together create a Bourbon with real depth, complexity, and character that truly shines at barrel proof.”

On the nose, “X” offers decadent aromas of milk chocolate and salted caramel. The palate delivers sweeter notes of butterscotch, chocolate, and almonds, followed by chocolate cake and cherry cola. The finish is long and layered with hints of toffee, mocha, and candied orange peel.
