Event Preview | Lost in the Woods 2016
New Belgium Brewing Company’s annual event celebrating the releases of La Folie and TranksAtlantique Kriek is back and this year, Lost in the Woods is providing a magical sour beer experience for fans across the country. While they’re best known to most people for their flagship hoppy amber ale Fat Tire, New Belgium has advanced their barrel aging program to one of the industry’s most revered by both peers and customers.
As their reputation for these amazing sours has grown, so has the demand for Lost in the Woods. This increased demand is the reason New Belgium has expanded the event each year. This year, 42 Lost in the Woods events are planned across the country and tickets to the main event at the brewery in Fort Collins sold out in less than an hour. This can’t-miss sour beer soiree started in 2013 and has grown into one of the most sought-after tickets in the craft beer industry.
Every event will feature the 2016 versions of La Folie and Transatlantic Kriek as well as something rare from New Belgium’s wood cellar – including NBB Love Felix, NBB Love Blackberry Felix, and NBB Love Peach Oscar. Selections of these beers will vary by city, but many of these specialty beers will not be available outside of event.
When asked how the lucky cities were chosen for Lost in the Woods events, New Belgium’s spokesperson, Bryan Simpson explained, “We basically offered it up to our sales crew, our Beer Rangers, and if they wanted to pull one off in their town, we all got on board.”
If you are lucky enough to be in or near one of the cities listed below, find a way to get to your local Lost in the Woods event. Some events are open to the public while some are ticketed (and possibly already sold out). Check for details, availability, and ticket purchasing options here.
