Monday Night Brewing | Slap Fight

Monday Night Brewing | Slap Fight

ABV: 5.8% | IBU: 58

“Present this beer to a friend. If he does not drink it immediately, slap him as hard as you can. Repeat,” reads the description for Monday Night Brewing’s Slap Fight. Frankly, I couldn’t agree more.

Who hasn’t wanted to give a little slap to someone who isn’t enjoying a quality beer? I feel this way about most beers I enjoy, so appreciate that they put it into words. If only it were socially appropriate to do so!

Slap Fight is the best beer offered at my local bar, and I order it accompanied by both a slapping motion with my hand, as well as the turn of my cheek as though I’ve been hit. (I’m friends with the bartender so it’s okay for him to think I’m nuts, right?) It has gotten to the point where he won’t serve me one unless I employ the slapping motion, which makes beer drinking just a little more fun.

Slap Fight is a solid West Coast style IPA, with a tropical nod that makes for a full-flavored, easily-drinkable IPA. Slap Fight is really clean, dry and refreshing with a hint of orange that adds a nice touch. Monday Night says it also has hints of “papaya and grapefruit,” but orange is the most prominent flavor in my opinion. It pours an opaque amber color and is both hoppy and citrusy on the nose.

According to Monday Night Brewing, Slap Fight is brewed with Comet, Equinox, Mosaic and Bravo hops and 2-row, Munich and Crystal wheat. Monday Night suggests pairing the beer with spicy curries, citrus, chicken and key lime pie. As always, I suggest pairing any IPA with another IPA. (Always drink responsibly and use Uber!)

Released last year, Slap Fight is part of what I like to call the Monday Night renaissance. The brewery has pumped out really full-flavored great beer in the past few years. While its original beers are nothing to sneeze at, the latest releases from the brewery have been outstanding. In addition, if you’re bored one day, go and check out the descriptions for each of the beer on the Monday Night website; absolutely hilarious.

Monday Night is distributed throughout Georgia, Alabama, and the Florida panhandle. You can check out their fancy map to see where to find it near you.

And always remember to share a little Slap with a friend!
