There must be something in the water in Boulder, Colorado. White Rascal, Avery’s flagship beer, won Gold at both the World Beer Cup and the Great American Beer Festival in the Belgian Wit Category in 2023. Recently, Avery took their White Rascal to the next level with the release of Mighty Rascal, a bigger, bolder take on their award-winning Wit.
This Rascal got the royal treatment with its can art and heavy is the head that wears the crown. Weighing in at a sneaky smooth 8% abv, Mighty Rascal is brewed with Sterling and Columbus hops and a simple grain bill of 2-Row and Wheat. It pours a cloudy, enticing, golden orange. Avery’s house Belgian Wit yeast strain offers fruity esters, resulting in a king’s ransom of citrusy aromas and flavors. Notes of coriander and orange peel shine through each and every zesty, zippy sip.
Now that it’s poured, let’s pair it. An effective effervescence allows this one to work well with shrimp, scallops, salmon, and sole. It’s mighty, but not overwhelming, and being fruit-forward compliments most any seafood dish. Shellfish allergy or seafood phobia? Fear not, this one goes down just as easy alongside a salad, grilled chicken, and even a cheesecake for the sweet tooths following along.
