The Complete PorchDrinking 2023 GABF Week Events Guide

GABF External Events Guide
Emma Wargolet

The return of the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) each year serves as one of the greatest spectacles in American craft beer. And while the festival, which kicks off this week on Thursday, September 21, is a feat in and of itself, what happens outside of the Convention Center is equally as exciting. External beer events built around the return of GABF have already begun kicking off, and they offer beer fans a unique opportunity to explore rare and exciting new beers from breweries not typically available in the state of Colorado but also serve to showcase some of the best that the state of Colorado can offer.

From special tap takeovers to paired beer dinners, out-of-state bottle releases, and collaborations to full-fledged beer festivals, the beer world descends upon Denver in all of its glory. With over a week jam-packed full of events, it can be a bit hard to navigate. Luckily we’re here to help sort through it all with the return of our 2023 GABF Week Events Guide. Be sure to bookmark this page and check back throughout the week as we’ll continue to add GABF events as they emerge.

Soft tropical fruit with a pleasant underlying tartness and hints of grassy bitterness. Fresh grapefruit juice, orange, lemon, lime, and peach plus berries, mango, and oats.
  • Drekker | SMOL Cherry Lime | ABV: 6.2%
Draft-friendly version of brains with slightly lower fruit content, Smol is our new line of fruited sours where we suppress all of the dark urges to make things super weird and we just add the perfect amount of fruit to make them not quite so thick but insanely tasty and refreshing. This Smol was blasted with just the perfect amount of cherry & lime and it’s just absurdly tasty!
  • The Bruery | Goses Are Red | ABV: 5.6%
Gose-style ale with Syrah grapes aged in oak foeders.
This is a rosé – and a gose – by any other name. Goses are Red is a stylish funky, crisp and tart gose ale inspired by the soft sweetness of a rosé wine.
  • Trillium – TBA
