BREAKING | 2025 World Beer Cup Results Announced

The largest international competition for craft beer has crowned its newest class of medal winners.

This year’s 2025 World Beer Cup awards took on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in Indianapolis, IN, as part of the yearly Craft Brewers Conference. Launched by the Brewers Association in 1996 to celebrate brewing and brewers across the world, the World Beer Cup is often referred to as “The Olympics of Beer Competitions.”

This year’s 2025 World Beer Cup competition featured 8,375 entries from 1,761 breweries and cideries across 49 countries entered into 112 beer categories and, 5 cider categories, marking the first year for judging cider as a category.  Approximately 265 judges from 37 countries helped oversee the competition.

Interesting Tidbits

  • Who said California is wine country? California won big in hoppy categories. California once again dominated the competition with 76 medals.
  • Internationally, this year’s competition saw strong outings from countries like Japan, which took home 13 medals, Canada notched 8, and China earned 6.
  • Breakside Brewery was the big winner of the night with 6 medals among their various locations, 2 Towns Ciderhouse obliterated the competition in the cider categories with 6 medals of their own, and Ghost Town Brewing finally broke out with a whopping 5 medals this year.
