Ale Asylum Madtown Nutbrown

Ale Asylum Madtown Nutbrown

5.5% ABV

Hop on board the crazy train with a yummy Madtown Nutbrown from Ale Asylum. (See what I did there? Hop? Ha ha ha! I slay me!) Ale Asylum is one of the many great craft endeavors coming out of Wisconsin. It is a solid little micro-brewery that’s off its rocker just enough to spice up the industry and as such, the Madtown Nutbrown is one of its many delightful offerings. Let the references to squirrels and psych wards commence!

This nut forward brew pours a nice rich brown with warm red tones and a foamy head that dissipates fairly quickly and leaves minimal lacing. The aroma subtly hints at the maltiness and calls to mind baked goods made with brown sugar, that your grandma probably made for you. Then into your mouth goes the madness. The taste is as nutty as squirrel’s kitchen cupboard, as we would expect, but the underlying earthy mineral flavors and caramel sweetness are what really balance it out. Or perhaps they make it a little unbalanced? Eh? Eh? The creamy mouthfeel then settles into the carbonation, leaving a fizzy, lingering aftertaste.

You are going to like the Ale Asylum Madtown Nutbrown. It is a little unorthodox, a little unhinged. I daresay you might even become an Ale Asylum fanatic. So if you can get a hold of one of these delicious Madtowns, sit back, imagine yourself a deranged Vincent D’Onofrio and say, “This is my beer. There are not many like it and this one is mine.”

Go ahead. . .wait for it . . . go nuts.

P.S. I apologize for all the terrible puns, but my next review will be on Ale Asylum’s Ambergeddon, so definitely expect more.
